((Alright, I'm not sure if we were supposed to include a character form of our own or just use the one on the other board >>))
Mana has always been the lifeblood of the people, we can't live without it...and now as time goes by, it seems like we can't live with it.
The essence, mana, has been coursing through our veins since the beginning of time. It lets us see, hear, it lets us live life and lets us survive basically. Without mana, we'd all be dead. At the same time however, just as how mana is our savior it can also be the bane of our existence. Too much mana can damage the human body, shorten our lifespans and cause damage to both outside of the body and the inside. Basically, too little or too much of the stuff can kill us...
Unfortunately, however, there are those who are born with a larger amount of mana than usual which slowly takes a toll on their body. This, of course, will kind of screw them over because as the mana will slowly destroy their body till there's nothing left. There is, however, one way to prevent them from falling into an early grave...
By channeling the mana inside of them they are able to turn it in to raw power, releasing a great amount of mana in the form of devastating spells. This, of course, will lower the concentration of mana in their bodies and in the end let's them live their life normally till the mana builds right back up and they have to release the magic once more.
Of course, the spells that release the mana are basically impossible to control. Whenever someone releases mana, the spell will not only be highly destructive but at the same time will cover quite a large area. Simply said, releasing the mana can cause a lot of damage and a lot of the 'normal' folk really don't take kindly to that.
In Altios, where I'm currently staying, the people are quite wary of those who have a high concentration, dubbed 'Manis'. Stupid name if you ask me, but ah well. From what I hear, the Manis have mostly gone into hiding with only a few bothering to go out into the public.
Of course, the relationship between the Manis and the normal people are on an edge these days...a storm is brewing, and I plan on getting out of this country before things go crazy.
I'm sitting in a small town, Vim, near the border of Altios. I plan on getting some rest, and then leaving at the crack of dawn. Hopefully I can get through the border with ease, for some reason it feels like time is running out...
----Setting
Steam-Power has only recently arrived in Altios; trains are beginning to become more common as tracks are built and the first ever airship was released into the air a year back. The major cities have begun to advance, however the more 'backwater' towns are relatively unchanged.
----Races
Humans: The normal people, you should know who they are. They make up the majority of the Altios population and while it is possible to use minor spells via channeling the mana inside themselves it can be quite dangerous if they use too much mana
Manis: Humans with a greater concentration of mana, they are able to cast deadly spells (and in fact are required to if they want to survive). They are feared by the general populace and mostly live in seclusion
----Rules and all that good stuff
1. You'll start off in Vim
2. Keep romance, violence, and language and the like at PG-13
3. Use common sense.
4. And have fun!
